1. About PreQual™

PreQual™ (ABN to be confirmed) operates a lead qualification platform that connects verified home buyers with Australian residential builders. We collect personal and financial information to assess buyer readiness and match buyers with suitable builders. This policy explains how we handle that information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

2. What Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

  • Identity information: Full name, email address, phone number
  • Financial information: Pre-approval letters, proof of funds documents, stated build budget range
  • Property preferences: Location preferences, build type, timeline
  • Intent data: Qualification stage, readiness signals collected through our 7-step qualification flow
  • Technical data: IP address, browser type, UTM parameters, referral source, session data, and cookies (see our Cookie Policy)

3. How We Collect Information

We collect information when you:

  • Complete our buyer qualification flow at prequal.au/qualify
  • Submit an early access or contact form
  • Visit our website (via cookies and analytics)
  • Correspond with us by email

4. Why We Collect It (Primary Purpose)

We collect personal information for the primary purpose of providing our lead qualification service. This includes assessing buyer readiness, generating a qualification score, and (where a buyer qualifies) sharing their profile with matched builders. We will not use your information for purposes that are unrelated to this without your consent.

5. Disclosure to Third Parties

We share buyer profile data only with builders who are registered on the PreQual™ platform and who have been matched to your preferences. We do not sell your information to data brokers or unrelated third parties. We may also share data with:

  • Our technology service providers (hosting, CRM, analytics) under data processing agreements
  • Law enforcement or regulators where required by Australian law

We take reasonable steps to ensure any third party we disclose your information to handles it in accordance with the APPs.

6. Financial Documents

Pre-approval letters and proof of funds documents are sensitive financial information. We store these using encrypted cloud storage. Documents are accessible only to PreQual™ staff for the purpose of verifying buyer qualification. We do not transmit the raw document files to builders — only the verification status is shared.

7. Direct Marketing

We may send you transactional emails (qualification status updates, builder match notifications) and, with your consent, marketing communications about PreQual™. You may opt out of marketing emails at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email.

8. Data Quality and Accuracy

We take reasonable steps to ensure the information we hold is accurate, up to date, and complete. You may request correction of any inaccurate information by contacting us at privacy@prequal.au.

9. Security

We implement industry-standard technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. These include encrypted data storage, secure HTTPS connections, and access controls. No internet transmission is 100% secure; we encourage you to contact us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access.

10. Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as necessary to provide our services and comply with legal obligations. Buyer qualification data is retained for a minimum of 2 years to support attribution tracking for builders. You may request deletion of your data subject to our legal obligations.

11. Your Rights (Australian Privacy Principles)

Under the APPs, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate information
  • Lodge a complaint if you believe we have breached the APPs
  • Opt out of direct marketing

To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@prequal.au. We will respond within 30 days.

12. Complaints

If you are unsatisfied with our response to a privacy complaint, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.

13. GDPR (For International Visitors)

If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including the right to data portability and the right to erasure. Our lawful basis for processing is legitimate interest (buyer-builder matching) and, where applicable, consent. Contact privacy@prequal.au to exercise these rights.

14. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified on our website. Your continued use of the platform after such notice constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
