Cookie Policy

Last updated: March 2026 · Contact: privacy@prequal.au

1. What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They allow the website to remember your preferences, track usage patterns, and enable certain functionality. This policy explains how PreQual™ uses cookies and similar tracking technologies on prequal.au.

2. Cookies We Use

Essential Cookies

These are required for the platform to function. They cannot be disabled. They include:

  • Session cookies — maintain your session state as you progress through the qualification flow
  • Security cookies — protect against cross-site request forgery (CSRF)

Analytics Cookies

We use analytics tools to understand how visitors use our site. These cookies collect aggregated, anonymised data including pages visited, time on site, and traffic source. We use this data to improve the platform. These may include:

  • Google Analytics — traffic and behaviour analytics
  • Vercel Analytics — performance monitoring

Marketing and Attribution Cookies

We use attribution cookies to track which advertising channels drive buyer leads. This is core to our business model — we need to accurately attribute leads to their source to optimise our campaigns and report on channel performance. These include:

  • UTM parameter tracking — captures the source, medium, campaign, and keyword that brought you to the platform. Stored in a first-party cookie.
  • Google Ads (gclid) — click identifier for attributing conversions from Google campaigns
  • Meta Pixel (fbp/fbc) — tracks conversions from Meta (Facebook and Instagram) advertising
  • LinkedIn Insight Tag — conversion tracking for LinkedIn advertising

These cookies are essential to our ability to provide a performance-based (commission-only) model to builders. Without accurate attribution, we cannot responsibly track which buyer signed a contract with which builder.

Functional Cookies

These cookies remember your preferences and form progress (e.g., answers entered in the qualification flow). They improve your experience but are not strictly essential.

3. Cookie Duration

  • Session cookies — deleted when you close your browser
  • UTM / attribution cookies — up to 90 days
  • Analytics cookies — up to 24 months (as set by the analytics provider)
  • Marketing pixel cookies — up to 180 days (as set by the advertising platform)

4. Third-Party Cookies

Some cookies are set by third-party services (Google, Meta, LinkedIn). These parties have their own privacy policies which govern how they use the data collected:

5. Managing Cookies

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to:

  • View cookies currently stored on your device
  • Delete cookies for specific sites or all sites
  • Block third-party cookies
  • Set your browser to notify you when cookies are set

Note that disabling certain cookies may affect the functionality of the PreQual™ qualification flow. Disabling marketing cookies will not prevent you from completing the flow, but may result in inaccurate attribution data.

For opt-out options from specific platforms:

6. Do Not Track

Some browsers support a “Do Not Track” (DNT) signal. We currently do not alter our data collection practices in response to DNT signals, as there is no consistent industry standard for honouring them. We will update this position if an accepted standard emerges.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy as our technology or legal requirements change. Material changes will be notified on our website.
